Throw Back Thursday!

As I was cleaning up my computer of unnecessary items I found a project that I never published from last year.  Last year 3rd grade worked long and hard on their Moroccan Tessellation Tile project using color pencils.  The students had to create their own stencils to create the shape of the tiles and then carefully traced them to make the intricate pattern.  I can't believe I never posted it!  The results were gorgeous!

Kindergarten Learns to Draw Cats!

In Kindergarten for the last few weeks we've been working on shapes and how to see shapes in the objects we wish to draw.  After reading Pete the Cat and His Magic Sunglasses the kinders then learned how to find the shapes they saw in Pete.  They learned that cats could be drawn mostly with triangles.  The results are creative and dare I say it: adorable.

Greenwood Community School Corp Elementary Art Show!

The other Greenwood Community Elementary Art teachers and I had our first ever district wide Art Show at the Greenwood Library: and it was AWESOME!  The students had their work on display at the library for a week and then we had a reception to celebrate their work Isom, Northeast, Southwest, and Westwood picked 50 students from each school to participate in the art show so those who were chosen to participate should feel very honored!  I particularly was so pleased at how many of our families showed up to support their young artists!
