Pablo Picasso Reaches 5th Grade

Just this week, 5th grade has started their Picasso inspired portraits.  5th grade is not only looking at the Cubist portraits Picasso made, but also looking closer at how Picasso would combine a profile view with a straight on view of a portrait (thus making one face look like it has multiple faces).

The 5th graders have been coming up with some really creative stuff!  It's making me feel inspired to make my own work too!  Here's a sneak peak at what the kids are just starting to make.

Another 2nd Grade Class Finishes Pablo Picasso Project!

Miss Thomas' class put the finishing touches on their art projects today and they are beautiful!  I love how creative the students are making their portraits!  Pablo Picasso would have been totally excited to see the students expressing their creativity in such fun ways!

Pablo Picasso and Mrs. Cooper's Class

Currently, in the Southwest Art Room, all the grades are learning about (or about to start learning about) the famous artist Pablo Picasso!  Second grade was the first group to begin learning about   Mr. Picasso and thus are the first ones wrapping up their Picasso inspired project!

Second grade took a closer look at Picasso's Cubist portraits and the colors & shapes he used to make those unusual looking portraits!  The creative results of the second graders are amazing!

Here's Mrs. Cooper's class in action!
